Another Saturday Night. . .

So it's Saturday night and here we are. . .Greg and I. . .getting ready to watch a movie on t.v. Both the girls are gone. Becca is in Danville and won't be home until next weekend. Kathryn is spending the night at a friend's house after sleigh-riding with friends this afternoon. Her father offered to go out in the snow with her, but she hesitated and I "saved" her with "Now, Dad, I think she wants to go out with her friends since they're all going out together." "Oh, okay, I understand," he smiled, but I saw the sadness in his eyes. After all those snowmen and rides down the hill. . .it's over. Sure, maybe it's a phase and she will want us back in her life again for something more than hair styling, homework assistance, and taxi service, but for now, we know our role! Realizing there may be no more snowmen in our front yard kind of leaves a sick feeling in the pit of my stomach. At least we have many, many memories. (No Cats in the Cradle regrets for this mom and dad)

So, it's Saturday night and we must find the best in it. Hey! We have some time for each other we haven't had in years. That's a definite bright spot! Life is bitter-sweet and that is the truth.
